The Kansas City Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl, and that means Patrick Mahomes has another opportunity to bolster an already impressive resume.
At 29 years old, Mahomes is already a three-time Super Bowl MVP, a two-time league MVP and a four-time All-Pro. He's already a Hall of Famer before his 30th birthday, and a win on Sunday would make him the first quarterback to three-peat in the Super Bowl era.
There's a lot to be said about what Mahomes has done so far in his career, but the Philadelphia Eagles will look to halt the quarterback's unprecedented trajectory with a win of their own on Sunday in Super Bowl 59.
One Eagles star defender kept it simple when he was asked what the team needed to do to stop Mahomes in the Super Bowl.
"One thing is to sack him," said defensive lineman Jalen Carter Monday on Super Bowl Opening Night.
“If we do that or get him off his game, I think we’re going to have a good game."
Carter said that he was confident in defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and his game plan against Mahomes and the Chiefs.
The Eagles faced the Chiefs two years ago in the Super Bowl, but both teams come in with drastically different situations than that game in Arizona.
Philadelphia has added one of the best players in the league in Saquon Barkley, and the star running back has completely changed their offensive approach and game plan.
The Chiefs are less experienced than they were at certain positions in their last meeting with Philadelphia, but their core players are appearing in their fourth Super Bowl in the last six years.
Kansas City is looking for its third Super Bowl title in a row, while the Eagles are looking to win their first since the 2017 season and only the second in franchise history.
The Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl after wins over the Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills in the playoffs, while the Eagles' road to New Orleans included victories over the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams and Washington Commanders.
We'll see which team emerges with the win in this Super Bowl rematch on Sunday. Fans can tune into the game at 6:30 PM ET on FOX.
